PRAYAGRAJ: As part of the ongoing probe into the death of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad’s (ABAP) chief Mahant Narendra Giri, CBI officials may soon question people who were close to the Mahant and were also in regular contact with Anand Giri. A list of around 125 people has been prepared by the CBI which includes names of those close to Mahant Narendra Giri, his disciple Swami Anand Giri and occupants of Baghambari Gaddi Math.

The list also included the names which had come to light during investigations by the Special Investigation Team formed soon after Mahant’s death, informed police officials privy to the matter.

The CBI has prepared the list on the basis of questioning of Mahant Narendra Giri’s disciples, saints and sewadars at the Math, and scanning of his mobile’s call details.

Moreover, interrogation of Anand Giri, Aadya Tiwari and his son Sandeep has also revealed names of some people who are on the CBI radar. They include leaders of many political parties, businessmen and some officials. The CBI questioning has revealed that many of them were regular visitors to Baghambari Gaddi Math and were in contact with both Narendra Giri and Anand Giri.

The people named in the list also include many who are from outside the city while some are untraceable. CBI officials are now contacting them to call them to Prayagraj for questioning.

Meanwhile, CBI officials are minutely scanning the data found in Anand Giri’s laptop and mobile to unearth clues regarding the alleged morphed obscene video and photograph mentioned in the purported suicide note found in the room where Mahant Narendra Giri was found hanging on September 20.

On the basis of scanning of mobile and laptop, CBI officials also continued interrogation of Anand Giri at regular intervals. The CBI is recovering deleted data from Anand Giri’s phone and laptop and is also studying his Whats App chats with different people. Some WhatsApp groups in which he was added are also under CBI scanner .

Former priest of Bade Hanuman Temple Aadya Tiwari and his son Sandeep were taken to Bade Hanuman Temple premises and also to Naini area on Thursday evening. They were questioned about their source of income and people with whom they were in regular contact.

Meanwhile, officials have established that the signature found on the purported suicide note was matching with Mahant Narendra Giri’s signatures found on different documents.
