Previous govts spared no thought for dev, says Yogi
GORAKHPUR: Slamming the previous non-BJP governments for not having a development-oriented thinking and using power just to develop their families instead of the state, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Sunday that such governments had been given a befitting reply by the people who ousted them from power.
Addressing the people after gifting projects worth Rs 524 crores, including a medical college to Siddharthnagar district, the CM recalled a 17-year-old incident when a disabled girl was raped in Siddharthnagar and he as Gorakhpur MP led a protest to seek justice for the victim, as the “then government remained deaf and dumb on the issue and tried to hush up the case. “
“Those governments used to suppress your voices but this government is becoming your voice. These (governments) were the people who didn’t ever think about development, rather they encouraged riots. Earlier, you might have seen that riots occurred every fifth or sixth day in every district of the state. Sometimes it seemed as if a flood of riots had come. They (previous governments) would treat their families as state, by indulging in development of self and families but this government thinks about welfare of farmers, youth, and common people. This government thinks about power, roads, doubling of farmers’ income and making and implementing job plans for youths,” Yogi said.
The CM further said that had the previous government thought about development, the medical college would have come up in a small district like Siddharthnagar decades ago. “Had anyone ever thought that Siddharthnagar would get its own medical college? Such development is possible with positive thinking only,” he said.
The CM said that the central and state government worked together “sensitively” to deal with the situation of massive migration of migrant workers during corona pandemic by providing free rations and required health facility to everyone and claimed that the situation would have been opposite if the SP, BSP or Congress were in power instead of the BJP.
He said that 64,000 acres of land which had been freed from illegal possession of land sharks under the state government’s zero tolerance policy towards crime and criminals, was now being used for welfare of people, with development projects coming up on the vacated properties.
Later in Gorakhpur, the CM inaugurated piped natural gas (PNG) service which has been provided to some families in Khanipur village by Torrent company on trial basis. The company aims to supply PNG connections to 10,000 families by March. The CM thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Torrent for the PNG and said that it would be cheaper and effective substitute of LPG cylinders. The CM said that over 500 oxygen plants, including 13 set up by Torrent (which he inaugurated on Sunday) were set up in the state by the inspiration of PM Narendra Modi.
