MEERUT : Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Choudhary began his ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Noirpur in Hapur district on Thursday.

Noirpur is the birthplace of Jayant’s grandfather and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.

The Yatras would be held in different districts of western UP before ending in Baraut of Baghpat district on October 28.

The objective is to reach out to people on the home turf of the RLD before the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.

Jayant also attended a condolence meeting at Sisauli ( BKU headquarters) in Muzaffarnagar on Wednesday and paid tributes to stalwart farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait on his birth anniversary.

Addressing a public gathering

in Hapur, he called upon people to defeat the BJP by ‘ Vote ki Chot’ and said Chaudhary Charan Singh and Mahendra Singh Tikait always fought for weak and underprivileged people. Mentioning the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, he said, “I visited the bereaved families and we all could feel their pain and grief”.

Jayant reminded the people

that many movements had taken place in the past but farmers were never run over by vehicles. He accused the BJP of misleading people by lies and propaganda. Jayant will convene his next Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Budhana of Muzaffarnagar and Naugaon Sadat of Amroha district on October 11.

RLD national general secretary

and former minister Dr Mairajuddin Ahmad shared that 18 Jan Ashirwad Yatras would be organised in different districts of western UP.

He claimed that people were perturbed by spiralling prices of petroleum products and other essential commodities and seeing a ray of hope in the struggle of Jayant Choudhary .
