You can buy disposable bedding for train journey at Lucknow Junction
LUCKNOW: Passengers boarding long-distance trains at Lucknow Junction will no longer have to carry their beddings as North Eastern Railway (NER) has entered into an agreement with a private firm that has expertise in providing disposable bedding kits at affordable prices. NER officials said the facility would enhance passengers’ comfort and keep them infection free in times of Covid pandemic.
“We have started the facility of disposable beddings at Lucknow Junction. The facility indeed would add comfort to the passenger and will keep them safe in times of pandemic,” said Monica Agnihotri, divisional railway manager (DRM), Lucknow Division, NER.
NER officials said a counter has been set up at the station from where these disposable bedrolls can be bought.
“Disposable bedrolls are available at a price ranging from ₹50 to ₹250. The bedroll that costs ₹50 will include a bed sheet, face mask, gloves and a sanitiser. The one that cost ₹100 will include two bedsheets, pillow cover, face mask, gloves, head cap and sanitiser. Similarly, the bedroll costing ₹200 will include a blanket, two bedsheets, pillow cover, face mask, gloves, head cap and a sanitiser,” said a senior official with NER.
The bedroll costing ₹250 will include a face shield, a blanket, two bedsheets, pillow cover, face mask, gloves, head cap and a sanitiser. The counter has been set up near Janahar restaurant at Lucknow Junction.
The railway officials said the facility of the disposable bedding will make the journey more comfortable, especially for the train passengers boarding longdistance trains including Lucknow Mail, Pushpak Express, Jabalpur Express, Krishak Express and others.
It’s worth mentioning that the facility of providing bedding in trains was discontinued by the railways during the outbreak of Covid-19 in March 2020.
As per the precautionary measures, Railways not only restricted the facility of providing bedroll but also removed curtains from the train to check the spread of the Covid infection.
