THE MP HAD ALLEGED THAT BRAHMIN AND THAKUR WERE BEHIND THE DEFEAT OF BLOCK PRAMUKH CANDIDATE SUPPORTED BY HIM.

VARANASI : Apna Dal (S) member of Parliament Pakauri Lal Kol, who represents the Robertsganj Lok Sabha seat, has apologised after a video that went viral showed him using unparliamentary language against the Brahmin and Thakur community members in a proramme in Halia area of Mirzapur on Monday.

A video clip of his controversial statement went viral on social media and reached Apna Dal (S) president Anupriya Patel, on whose instruction Kol later apologised. He released a written statement and a video of his statement.

“A video is going viral since yesterday. It has been presented in a twisted manner. This has hurt the sentiments of our Brahmin and Kshatriya brothers. I am hurt by this too. Whatever I am today, it is because of the blessings of the entire society. If I have made any mistake knowingly or unknowingly, I apologize to all of you with folded hands,” Kol said.

On Monday, Kol was invited to a programme as chief guest in Kirka Basti of Babura Raghunath Singh village of Halia development block in Mirzapur.

There, the MP said that he would keep fighting for the Adivasi and Kol Samaj. Counting his achievements, the MP reportedly started using abusive words against the upper caste people, to the chagrin of some of the upper caste people present there.

The MP alleged that Brahmin and Thakur were behind the defeat of Block Pramukh candidate supported by him. His candidate lost just by one vote. Someone in the meeting recorded his controversial statement and made it viral on social media.

Apna Dal (S) national president and Union minister Anupriya Patel took cognizance of the controversial statement and instructed the MP to apologise.

In a video statement, Anupriya said, “Using unparliamentary language against any particular caste or religion is not part of the culture of Apna Dal. From the time of its formation, Apna Dal has been struggling for the rights of the poor, deprived and downtrodden people. A video clip has come to my notice. The language in the clip is highly indecent. My party strongly condemns it. I have instructed the MP of my party to immediately apologize for using inappropriate and indecent language .”
