Lucknow Metro’s film shooting policy is being revised and rates for shooting at Metro stations and in trains are likely to be reduced to attract more filmmakers. The draft is expected to be ready by Monday, said officials.

“We want to attract more filmmakers to Lucknow Metro. So far, the full potential of Lucknow Metro has not been realized for film shooting, therefore some alterations are required in the film policy,” said Kumar Keshav, MD, UPMRC.

With the government’s vision to promote a filming-friendly environment in Uttar Pradesh, more films are likely to be shot in the city and Lucknow Metro could be a lucrative shoot destination for the filmmakers, said Keshav.

Initially, rates for shooting inside the Metro stations were Rs 1 lakh per day, which are expected to come down to Rs 75,000 a day, while initial rates for shooting inside Metro train and at stations between Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport and Munshipulia were Rs 1.50 lakh per day, which are supposed to come down to Rs 1.25 lakh a day. There will always be scope for reduction in rates when negotiated by film makers, said an official of UP Metro.

In the recent past, a romantic song and a few sequences of the Sabbir Khan directorial Hindi feature film ‘Nikamma’ (starring Abhimanyu Dasani and Shirley Sethia) were shot at Lucknow Metro stations and inside the train.

On January 10, 2020, sequences of Sikhya Productions’s much acclaimed film ‘Paglait’ starring Sania Malhotra were also shot in Lucknow Metro, where the actress travelled in the Metro and shot scenes at Hazratganj Metro Station.

Pahlaj Nihalani had also shot sequences of the film ‘Anari is Back’ at the Charbagh and Hussainganj Metro stations on February 28, 2021.
