Tirkey nets double hat-trick in Babu hockey tourney
: Haryana’s Flicker Brothers continued their winning streak for the second consecutive day in the 32nd All India KD Singh ‘Babu’ Sub-Junior Boys (U-14) Hockey Tournament, notching up a convincing 4-0 win against Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu 14-0, at the Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Synthetic Hockey Stadium here on Thursday.
Naval Tata Academy, on the other hand, also registered their second successive win, scoring 31 goals against the Uttarakhand team to defeat them badly. This was Uttarakhand’s second consecutive crushing defeat.
In another match, Guru Hockey Academy Haryana beat Hockey Bihar 7-0. Sahil Tirkey scored 11 goals at the opponent’s goalpost including a double hattrick in Naval Tata Academy’s win against Uttarakhand. Supporting him, Rohit Dung Dung also scored eight goals including a hat-trick.
Sahil Tirkey completed his second hat-trick by scoring goals in the 31st, 32nd, 34th and 38th minutes of the game and then scoring consecutive goals in the 54th, 56th and 58th minutes of the game. Rohit Dung Dung scored a hat-trick in the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th and 21st minutes.
Asmit Soreng scored three goals, Manjeet Kumar, Vinod Ekka and Gulshan Ekka scored two goals each. Asghar Dung Dung and Biro Jess got success in scoring one goal each.*

Sportspersons of North Eastern Railway (NER) did well at the national level in different over the last one week.
Kunal Chaudhary won gold in the 110 hurdles at the All-India Railways Athletics at Kolkata, whereas Dimple Singh finished with bronze medal in 10 km race also at Kolkata.
Its women’s hockey team bagged gold at New Delhi, whereas Poonam Yadav and VN Usha won gold at the weightlifting championship, Manju Yadav finished runners-up at the national cross-country championship. At the 50th Senior National Men’sHandball Championship at Jaipur, NER team finished third. In Greco Roman wrestling at the All-India Railways Wrestling at Gorakhpur, NER’s Rohit Yadav (gold), Arvind Kumar (silver) and Biresh Kundu (bronze) excelled.
