CM meets injured PAC jawans; Gorakhnath temple security upped

YOGI, WHO IS HEAD PRIEST OF GORAKHNATH TEMPLE, REVIEWED THE SECURITY OF THE TEMPLE PREMISES WITH POLICE OFFICERS

: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday visited Gorakhpur and met the security personnel injured in the attack by one Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi on the premises of Gorakhnath temple on Sunday evening, even as the security of temple premises was strengthen­ed.

Yogi, after arriving in Gorakhpur, went to BRD Medical College and met the Provincial Armed Constabula­ry (PAC) jawans Gopal Gaur and Anil Paswan who were injured in the attack.

The CM also met PAC jawan Anurag Rajput who, along with his colleagues, nabbed the attacker. Yogi praised the courage shown by the jawans and assured all assistance for their treatment. He also interacted with the family members of the jawans in the hospital.

The state government has announced ₹5 lakh reward for the three jawans.

Yogi then went to the Goraknath temple where he inspected the attack spot. A district police officer briefed him about the episode.

Later Yogi, who is head priest of Gorakhnath temple, reviewed the security of the temple premises with police officers.

The three-layer security of the temple premises, spread over around 54 acres area, has been strengthen­ed following the attack. CCTVs have been installed on the temple premises, watch towers have been set up from where security personnel will maintain watch on the activities of the people visiting the temple.

“Along with civil police, PAC jawans and intelligen­ce personnel have been deputed at the temple. A nodal police office has been appointed for the security of temple premises,” said a police officer familiar with the developmen­t.

The police personnel have been directed to frisk people visiting the temple and also check vehicles, he said, and added that the security men have been directed to remain on high alert.
