RMLIMS starts andrology clinic on World Health day
LUCKNOW : Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences started an andrology clinic for men on World Health Day (WHD) on Thursday, while several other events were also held to mark the occasion.
The andrology clinic was inaugurated by director Sonia Nityanand. The clinic will run every Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm in the hospital block. Andrology is the medical specialty that deals with male health, particularly related to male reproductive system and urological problems.
“Unhealthy lifestyle, lack of exercise and yoga and consumption of fast food are responsible for poor health,” said Prof Surya Kant, HoD, respiratory medicine, at the King George’s Medical University addressing an event.
Prof Surya Kant, national vice chairman of IMA-AMS (IMAAcademy of Medical Specialties) added that mega plantation drive, abstaining from addiction, using more public transport, walking and cycling, could keep the earth and our health good. Dr S K Verma, Dr RAS Kushwaha, Dr. Santosh Kumar, Dr. Rajiv Garg, Dr. Ajay Kumar Verma, Dr. Ankit Kumar, resident doctors and all the members of the department attended the event.
“This year the WHD theme is Our Plant Our Health. Hence we need to take care of our own health and keep the planet too healthy by making sure we do nothing that harms the environment,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors. Dr PK Gupta, former president IMA, Lucknow organised a walk for residents in Vrindavan Yojna and shared tips for a healthy life.
