‘VC Care Fund’ launched to help needy students at LU

LUCKNOW : Lucknow University on Saturday launched a new initiative to extend financial help to needy students under the ‘VC Care Fund’. Inspired by the motto “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas”, this initiative was rolled out in the interest of needy students, with the generous help of people from all spheres of the society.

The efforts of vice-chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Rai to connect all sections of the society in the interest of the students got an expected encouragem­ent on the first day itself when an amount of nearly ₹3,80,000 was collected with contributi­ons from 30 people.

Donors included students, professors and officials of Lucknow University as well as Sangeeta Rai, Prasoon Verma (Deputy Director, National Statistica­l Office), Shivangi Mishra (Manager, Reserve Bank of India), Mayank Trivedi (Assistant Professor, BBD University), Mahendra Singh (Principal, KKPG College, Etawah), VN Mishra (Associate Professor, Kalicharan PG College).

Vice-chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai appealed to all sections of the society to go ahead and participat­e in this student welfare centric programme and take this campaign forward.

The programme was organised by the dean of student welfare Prof Poonam Tandon who explained the programme in detail. She said that this fund will be operated from the approved bank account opened in the bank.

“Funds for the VC Care Fund can be generated through donations made by Indian, Overseas Citizens of Indian Origin and institutio­ns.

If any donation comes for a specific purpose then the fund will be used for that purpose only. There is no maximum limit for donation but a minimum of Rs 5000 has been fixed. Similarly, a limit of Rs 50000 has been set in a financial year to help a student. For further details, one can contact dean_stuwelfare@lkouniv.ac.in. All the dean, teachers and administra­tive officers were also present in the programme,’ she said.
