‘Measures being taken to improve law, order in UP’

LUCKNOW : The state government has directed the traffic directorat­e to prepare a work plan to strengthen the traffic system and streamline the movement of traffic in all districts.

A meeting chaired by additional chief secretary (ACS), home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi was held here on Monday. The ACS said that on the directions of the chief minister, measures are being taken to improve the law and order in the state while ensuring good governance and maintainin­g harmony.

Regular patrolling is to be strengthen­ed with the strengthen­ing of the police response vehicle (PRV) 112 service. The district police officers have been directed to prepare a districtwi­se action plan and send it to the state government after review at the commission­er of police and senior superinten­dent of police level, he said.

Instructio­ns have also been given to district police officers to ensure disposal of seized vehicles stationed at police stations after obtaining orders from the local court.

The officers of the district and police administra­tion have been directed to ensure that no confiscate­d vehicle remains in the police station premises after 60 days. If the vehicles cannot be disposed of, then the police officers will shift the vehicles to another spot.

The state government has directed the district police officers to identify mining, liquor, animal, forest and land mafia active in their respective districts. Action against them will be taken under the Gangsters’ Act and the district and police administra­tion will submit an action taken report to the state government.

The senior police and the district administra­tion officers will work in coordinati­on with additional director general, law and order, to ensure action against the mafia active in the districts.

All police stations have been directed to identify the top 10 criminals active in their respective areas and take effective action against them. If crime is committed by the identified criminals in any district, then the responsibi­lity of the police station concerned and police officer concerned of that district will be fixed, he said.

Instructio­ns have also been issued to streamline the working of fire stations in each tehsil of the state. The constructi­on of fire stations is in progress at various tehsil headquarte­rs across the state. Senior officers of the fire department have been told that at least 50 fire stations should be made operationa­l in the next 100 days and temporary arrangemen­t of fire tenders should be ensured in tehsils where there is no fire station, he said.
