- Deep Saxena deep.saxena@htlive.com

With recordbreaking summer ahead of us, consumers are looking for comfortable, light, breezy garments to style for casual wear or formal wear. Fashionistas nowadays are falling for subtle design details, with tiny tweaks and supercomfy fabrics. White remains a must-have in the wardrobe. We ask designers from Lucknow about dresses and accessories they like to sport as the mercury continues to climb.

Summers has walked in with all its intensity and the fashionistas need to beat the heat with all new trends and styles. Weightless and flowy fabrics with pastel shades and a loose-fitted garment will be in with all the style and comfort along with a mix and match of trendy cotton laces like Croatia and net-based borders. Stylish bags and scarves will add the beauty and serve the purpose to protect from heat and infection

Layering in dresses and skirts with jackets and scarves and lots of colours! My style this season is inspired by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol. It’s very modern and surreal. Colours elevate the mood and give happy vibes. It has the cheeriness of childhood and the complexity of the modern world.

With practical and aesthetic modernization as a focal point, I have designed an all-purpose shirt, which I have been using myself too. The white shirt is tweaked with little trendy detailing like hand top-stitch, embroidery patches, pocket placements, seam finishes, and superfine fabrics sourced from reliable vendors. It can be paired with jeans for a casual look or with formal pants for a stylized formal look. One can also pair it with trousers and a blazer for a party.

I prefer to wear light coloured clothing, choose breathable fabrics, lightweight cotton and linen pants. Comfort-fit soft and light denim and vertical stripes too are part of our summer styling as they are both slimming and on-trend besides chinos, baggy pants and which can be teamed with oversized t-shirts. Cool colours for me are earthy green, lime green, saturated yellow, shades of blues, orchid pink, light brown, beige, grey and black during evenings. Shades are a must-have and for footwear choose from sandals, clogs, loafers, sneakers or flip flops.

Summer is all about breathable fabrics yet looking chic and fashionable. Fabrics like pure mul, organic cotton and pure linen are a must-have in your wardrobe this season. Long flowy dresses in one of the above fabrics are a winning look. Pair it with a bamboo made or straw made handbag and your favourite pair of white embellished flats and you are good to go. These long dresses are super versatile and can be worn from lunch to dinner.

My style statement is very minimalistic and monochromatic during the summers. I enjoy my shift dresses, oversized shirts and most importantly love my linen and cotton co-ords. Personally, I don’t like accessorising too much so usually head out with a watch and dainty jewellery on the neck or ears. Sneakers and sliders are my go-to footwear for casual evenings, and if I do end up attending any galas or events, I pair my dresses with strap on heels.

Soothing colours and pastel shares work best for me in summer. White as a base shade with floral prints is an all-time pick for me. Classic white kurtas, tunics, or a sleeveless is all you want to step out of home, which can be teamed with a stole. Above all, a pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes from ultra-violet rays is a must during day time.
