BJP, SP spar in UP over Delhi bulldozer action
LUCKNOW: The Bharatiya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party on Wednesday sparred over the bulldozer action in Delhi’s violence-hit Jahangirpuri earlier in the day.
While deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the ‘UP model’ was now finding acceptance everywhere, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, while accusing the BJP of going after opposition and minorities, said the people would wage a campaign against unlawful constructions of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.
Maurya was referring to the fact that use of bulldozers to demolish illegal constructions first started in Uttar Pradesh.
‘The bulldozers are creating anger across the country. The BJP is resorting to illegal means to demolish constructions done by the opposition. Now, people would wage a campaign to bring the truth of constructions done by BJP leaders at their homes, offices and businesses before the people,” Akhilesh tweeted.
“The BJP is using bulldozers to showcase its power and Muslims and others minorities, backwards and dalits are on their target. Now, even Hindus are becoming their target. The truth is that the BJP is now using the bulldozer to run over the Constitution itself. It will be better if BJP makes bulldozers its election symbol,” he added.
The Samajwadi Party’s official twitter handle also tweeted videos of the bulldozer action in Delhi.
“Hindus and Muslims have always lived together and want to be together always, but this is not acceptable to the BJP and the BJP-controlled-media. The poor Hindu-Muslim is suffering,” he said in the tweet.
Meanwhile, Maurya defended the bulldozer action in Delhi.
“The UP model is now being accepted and implemented everywhere. Bulldozers would be at all those places where there is illegal construction. Those who engage in unlawful activities must face the music,” Maurya said.
UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev also slammed the opposition.
“After their defeat in the UP elections, the opposition’s system is now actively engaged in activities to divide the country,” he tweeted.
