Governor to inaugurate two-day global meet of IIT Roorkee today
A two-day global meet “Ullas Global Thomso 175” to mark 175 years of establishment of IIT Roorkee will be inaugurated by UP governor Anandiben Patel in state capital on Saturday.
“Governor Anandiben Patel, deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, deputy CM Brijesh Pathak and mayor Sanyukta Bhatiya along with IITians across the country will be a part of these celebrations,” said Anuj Varshneya, president of Lucknow chapter of IIT Roorkee Alumni Association in a press conference on Friday.
The programme will be organised at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
Anuj said “There will be two brain storming sessions. The first one on use of drones and robotics technology in social life whereas the next session shall be on ushering life to 22nd century. The purpose of both the sessions will be to discuss the existing infrastructure and the futuristic approach towards the same for the benefit of society.”
He said a theme pavilion is also being created to show case the journey of 175 years of IIT Roorkee which will also house the hall of fame.
For those coming to attend the meet there will be a city outing in electric buses that have recently been launched in the state capital and also a cultural evening has been organised where members will present their hidden talent, said Chandrashekhar Verma.
Secretary of the association Ajay Stivastava and cultural secretary Rajesh Agarwal said the valedictory session will take place on Sunday. The meet will see the presence of renowned and veteran engineers and architects of IIT Roorkee.
