Health minister pays surprise visit to health centres in Sitapur, Barabanki
LUCKNOW: Health staff were reprimanded for defunct equipment and dirty campuses when health and family welfare minister Brajesh Pathak conducted surprise inspection of health centres in Sitapur and Barabanki districts, on Friday.
Pathak who is also the state’s deputy chief minister, directed doctors to keep the campuses of the community health centres clean, and ensure that the equipment were functional and treat every patient as their own family member.
“The defunct x-ray machine should be repaired immediately or replaced. The operating theatres should be kept clean,” the health minister told officials when he found a nonfunctional x-ray machine and dirty operating theatre at Mehmudabad community health centre in Sitapur. The minister asked officials to make a list of doctors absent from duty since long. The staff responsible for maintaining cleanliness were reprimanded by Pathak. He also checked the attendance register to cross-check presence of staff members who had all signed for the day’s duty.
The minister checked the OPD counter, and then moved towards doctors’ chambers and later met patients at wards.
After the inspection, Pathak tweeted, “Reached primary health centre Kursi in Barabanki district to check health facilities. Directed officials to ensure all facilities are provided to patients.”
Meanwhile, a probe was ordered by the health minister in to the alleged anomalies at Balrampur hospital.
“Have directed officials to take action and submit report by tomorrow,” the minister tweeted on Friday. Liqour bottles were spotted on the hospital campus after which probe was ordered. Hospital officials said primarily it appears attendants who came last night might have left bottles.
