Kerala guv releases ‘Meri Ashesh Yatra’, a book by LU alumnus
LUCKNOW: The book—’Meri Ashesh Yatra’, written by alumnus of Lucknow University and member of the Executive Council, Anil Singh was launched at a function here to mark World Book Day. The book launch under the banner of Lok Adhikar Manch was inaugurated by the Governor of Kerala Arif Mohammad Khan, who was also the chief guest on the occasion.
The book was introduced to everyone by eminent journalist K Vikram Rao, who said this book was a living document of the political scene of modern Lucknow. The book introduction session was followed by the book launch by the Governor of Kerala “I thanked Anil Singh for giving me an opportunity to be able to be present at the auditorium of the university from where I got my degree years ago,” said Arif Mohammad Khan, Governor of Kerala.
Khan admired the selfless efforts of Singh and said that he worked as a political activist for the last 40 years and his contributions could not be measured. He asked the students to try to gain maximum knowledge and said that if they had talent, knowledge and information, in today’s era no one could ignore them..
Deputy chief minister Brijesh Pathak also addressed the audience. He shared many sweet and sour moments from his student days with Anil Singh. Addressing Singh as his elder brother, Pathak praised the book and commented that from the style and language of the articles to the poignant description of various incidents described in the book, it appeared as the creation of an accomplished litterateur. He claimed that every single article in the book would enable every student who has passed through the university to reconnect and relive their most exciting times. The programme was conducted by BP Singh, longtime associate of Anil Singh and current in-charge of Lucknow wing of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, and Himanshu Singh of the university’s Hindi and Modern Indian Languages department.
