IIT Roorkee has played important role in nation’s growth: Dy CM

LUCKNOW : Alumni of IIT Roorkee have made a significant contribution in giving the right direction and speed to the development of the country, said deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Sunday while addressing the concluding session of the two-day global meet “Ullas Tomaso 175” organised by IIT Roorkee Alumni Association, Lucknow Chapter, at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan to mark the completion of 175 years of the institution.
Pathak said, “Lucknow’s metro rail service is a living example of it as it has been built under the guidance of engineers from IIT Roorkee. Today Lucknow Metro has become one of the best metro rail services in the world.”
The deputy CM said the state government will help in whatever cooperation would be needed on the proposals and suggestions coming from IIT Roorkee.
Anuj Varshney, president, IIT Roorkee Alumni Association, Lucknow Chapter, said, “In the last two days, we alumni have discussed many issues regarding planned development of the state. We are always ready to share our knowledge with the government for development,”
“During the programme a book ‘Kahi-Ankahi’ written by Nandita Bhaskar was also released. The book comprises stories and related paintings (based upon same stories),” said Varshney.
“Nandita did her PhD in fine arts from Kanpur University. Her book has stories from peoples’ lives and happenings around,” he added.
The presentation of “Dastaangoi” (Urdu oral storytelling art form) by Himanshu Bajpai was appreciated. The alumni of IIT Roorkee also enjoyed the “Heritage Walk”.
