40 students selected for Karmodaya scheme
LUCKNOW : The Lucknow University has announced the results of the recently started in-house internship programme Karmodaya. Out of the 97 students who had applied, 40 have been selected after screening.
“Karmodaya is an in-house internship programme started under vice chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai for the holistic development of the students,” said LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava.
During internship, selected students would be engaged in different day to day activities of the university. For instance, a chemistry post graduate could be deployed to assist a professor in lab work or an English department student could be asked to take improvement classes for those not good in the subject, an official said.
‘Karmoday’ is an unpaid scheme for all the final and prefinal year students of the university, started in addition to the already running “Karmayogi “ scheme (paid internship scheme), according to Srivastava. In Karmodaya scheme, the internship was from 50 days to 6 months, Srivastava said.
Prof Poonam Tandon, dean, students’ welfare, said that ‘Karmodaya’ scheme was floated form on March 1 this year. A committee was formed by the vice chancellor to examine the applications.
The vice chancellor specially appointed a student representative to the committee to maintain transparency. The committee carefully examined all the applications and the result was uploaded on the university website, she said.
All the selected students have been instructed to contact the dean, students’ welfare office, to get their offer letters for the internship and start working in the designated offices at the earliest. Vice chancellor Prof Alok Kumar Rai congratulated all selected students and said that this National Education Policy 2020-based scheme would be beneficial for students and help in skill development.
