With the twin objective of improving quality of the education system and making youths employable, the state government would collaborate with private companies, said a government statement on Saturday.

The move is aimed at enhancing the skills of the youths according to market demand and creating job avenues for them.

For this, the department of vocational education and skill development has chalked out a plan to collaborate with private companies such as Tata Technologies, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and IBM (Richa) to assess the domestic and global needs so that the problem of employment after education could be overcome, said the statement.

As per the intent of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the dream of self-reliant India could be realized only if the students were trained directly by the industries. In this regard, the department would work on modernisation of 50 state ITIs with the help of Tata Technology under its upcoming 100-day plan. The latest technology and modern equipment would be used for training in ITIs, the statement said.

On the other hand, the government would also prepare the youths for the IT sector. According to department’s plan, 10,000 youth would be given training and assured employment in the IT sector with the help of companies like HCL Technologies, among others. Students would also get an honorarium during on-job training, the statement added.

The Yogi government’s thrust was on the health sector as well, the statement said, adding the government would enter into a contract with Tech Mahindra for customized training in new courses in the health sector. Through this training, the youths would be made eligible so that they could contribute to the health services in the state and at the same time, serve the people during a pandemic-like situation. A pact would be made with IBM Richa for training in new employable trades in the IT sector, which would help the youth to get jobs, said the statement.
