CSIR-IITR to hold ‘open day’ on National Technology Day
LUCKNOW : CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), Lucknow, will observe National Technology Day on Wednesday at SH Zaidi auditorium to mark the 24th anniversary of the Pokhran nuclear tests of 1998. The institute has decided to mark the day as an ‘open day’ when the school and college students visit the institute’s campus. The institute and its laboratories will be visited by about 25 students from Amity University in Lucknow.
The event will witness Prof Rana Krishna Pal Singh, vicechancellor of Dr Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, presenting The ‘Technology Day Lecture’ in a hybrid format. On the other hand, Prof (Dr) SK Barik, director, CSIR-IITR, will preside over the event. Apart from the ‘open day’, the institute will also sign a memorandum of understanding (Mou) with incubatees at the CSIR-IITR BIRAC-BioNEST centre of the institute.
Mini-symposium
The International Year of Basic Science was commemorated in the form of a mini-symposium at CSIR-CDRI, in collaboration with the Lucknow chapter of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) on Tuesday.
The event started with Dr D Srinivasa Reddy, director, CDRI, welcoming the guests. Among the speakers was Prof Chandrima Saha, president of INSA. The symposium saw a discussion on broad-ranging scientific themes presided over by Dr PK Seth and Dr Madhu Dikshit.
The talks were followed by presentations by 12 research scholars from National Research Institutes from Lucknow (CDRI, NBRI, CIMAP, IITR and BSIP), covering the role of basic science in health, and clean water and sanitation, biodiversity, innovation and climate change. Dr Saman Habib was the event convenor from INSA.
