Top two seeds to clash for title in girl’s singles in AITA C’ship Series
Top seeded Yashashvi Sharma on Wednesday set up a title clash with second seeded Arundhati Singh in girl’s singles of the Under-16 AITA Championship Series, notching up straight sets victories, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Wednesday.
West Bengal’s Sharma defeated local challenger Vaishnavi Lodhi 7-5, 6-2, whereas Uttar Pradesh’s Singh brushed aside compatriot Aairah 7-6 (5), 6-4. Sharma also booked a place in the doubles final. While pairing with Sumana Debinath, Sharma defeated the duo of Siddhi Singh and Geetika Saraswat 6-0, 7-6 (1).
In the boy’s category, all the seeded players made it to the semi-finals. Top seeded Pranav Mishra defeated eighth seeded Ritvik Dutt 6-2, 6-2, third seeded Sanidhya Dhar beat Kshitiz Sinha 6-1, 6-3, sixth seeded Anuj Kumar beat Vansh Raj Jalota 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, whereas second seeded Rishi Yadav defeated Anah Saxena 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
In the doubles semi-finals, the duo of Pranav Mishra and Vansh Raj Jalota beat the pair of Anany Dixit and Ritvik Dutt 6-2, 6-0, whereas Sanidhya Dhar Dwiwedi and Faiz Ali Kidwai beat Eeshan Chaudhary and Subhradip Mukhopadhyay 6-0, 6-2.

KAUSHAL RETIRED
Well-known badminton coach of the Sports Authority of India, Devendra Kaushal on Wednesday retired after serving the organization for almost 32 years.
He was given a warm send-off by the SAI officials, including executive director, Sanjay Saraswat, who highlighted the contributions of Kaushal for the promotion of sports. In his long career as badminton coach, Kaushal accompanied both junior and senior teams of India as coach.
