Directives to remove organised vending carts for smooth flow of traffic
LUCKNOW : To improve the efficiency of the state capital’s traffic system, the additional municipal commissioner has been directed to streamline disorganised vending carts at main crossings and send them to designated vending zones. The municipal commissioner has been directed to oversee the functionality of these zones. Furthermore, the municipal corporation has been told to remove encroachments regularly to maintain smooth flow of traffic on the streets.
In a crucial meeting of all the stakeholders on Thursday, divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob stressed the need for strict adherence to traffic rules, attributing a significant portion of road accidents to disregard for these rules. Propelling safety to the forefront, she advocated mandatory use of helmets by two-wheeler drivers as a pivotal measure to mitigate accidents.
She also directed that the city buses stop only at the designated bus stops, otherwise penalties must be imposed on them for stopping at undesignated locations.
She directed the PWD to prioritize the repair of signages and sign boards, which were important components for ensuring smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety. PWD officials briefed the divisional commissioner about the ongoing projects. She was told about the progress of blacktop widening at the polytechnic crossing.
She was also briefed about the road widening work being done at Indira Nagar B Block, Shalimar crossing, Dubagga crossing, Mama crossing and widening of roads at other important crossings. She directed the officials to relocate the bus stop in Telibagh.
