Nighttime temperature in the state capital is expected to rise slightly over the next 24 hours, with mostly clear and sunny skies, said the meteorological department in Lucknow on Thursday.

Lucknow experienced a maximum daytime temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature recorded at 22.6 degrees Celsius. According to the weather forecast, the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 39 degrees Celsius, but the minimum temperature will increase by 2 degrees Celsius, resulting in hotter conditions.

The maximum and minimum relative humidity levels were recorded at 49% and 22% respectively. “Low humidity levels may lead to dehydration, so it’s important to consume enough water or liquids, especially during the day,” advised Dr Samir Misra, senior faculty at King George’s Medical University.

While a silver lining lies in the influence of an approaching Western Disturbance centred over East Iran and its neighbouring areas, causing a cyclonic circulation in the middle and upper troposphere levels. As a result, some parts of Western Uttar Pradesh may experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds (30-40 KMPH), and lightning on April 18 and 19.

Prayagraj remained the hottest city in the state with a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius, while 14 other districts recorded temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or above.

“Strong surface winds of 25-35 Kmph are expected at isolated places across the state,” said the meteorological department in a press release.

Dr Manoj Agrawal, chief medical officer of Lucknow, stated, “People should avoid going out during the day, especially between 12 pm and 4 pm. If it’s necessary to go out, they should ensure they drink water at intervals, preferably every hour.”
