SECURITY BEEFED UP AT SRK’S BANDRA BUNGALOW AFTER UNDERWORLD THREAT
MUMBAI: Police stepped up security at Shah Rukh Khan’s Bandra residence on Tuesday after an unidentified person made a phone call to the actor’s production house, asking him to snap ties with the Morani business family.
A senior police officer, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed this and said gangster Ravi Pujari’s group may be involved. The incident took place two days after five rounds were fired outside the Juhu bungalow of movie producer Ali Morani.
Police officials refused to reveal anything on record and said there was no threat to the actor and no complaint had been filed. “We have intensified the security as a precautionary measure,” said Sadanand Date, joint commissioner of police (crime).
Khan is out of the country for a movie shoot. The footage from the CCTV cameras outside Morani’s house is hazy and police have failed to identify the three attackers and the registration number of their motorcycle. While the man at the front was wearing a helmet, the person seated in the middle fired the shots. The police added that the weapon used was a revolver and they did not find any empty rounds at the spot.
Apart from Juhu police, the Mumbai crime branch is also investigating the case.
“It is not correct to say that Bollywood is being targeted as this was just one incident,” said Dhananjay Kamlakar, joint commissioner of police (law and order).
