Justice Puri takes over as claims commissioner

CHANDIGARH: Justice (retd) KC Puri, who was appointed as claims commissioner to assess the damage caused to private and public property during the Jat agitation for reservation in February, assumed his charge in the office of additional chief secretary, home, Ram Niwas, here on Friday.

Puri said he will soon visit Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar and other areas of the state to take stock of damage caused during the agitation.

He said applications will be invited for claims from those who had suffered loss during the agitation. He said that as per claims of applicants, he will visit the spots to assess the loss and those who had caused the damage will be held responsible for the same.
