HAFEEZ SET TO UNDERGO TEST ON MODIFIED ACTION

KARACHI : Senior Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is set to undergo a bowling assessment test by the ICC later this month. A 12-month ban on Hafeez from bowling in internatio­nal cricket expired on July 12 and as per ICC rules and regulation­s governing bowlers who have been suspended from bowling due to illegal bowling actions, Hafeez is now eligible to appear in a bowling assessment test.

Saqlain’s inputs will help England batsmen: Yousuf

KARACHI : Former Pakistan captain Muhammad Yousuf believes that England’s decision to hire the services of former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq as a spin consultant for the second Test at Old Trafford will pay them dividends. “Saqlain was one of the best spinners I saw and it is a good move by England as their batsmen had no clue about Yasir Shah in the first Test,” Yousuf said on Friday.

Tendulkar to fly to Rio; meet Olympic squad

NEW DELHI: Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar will travel to the Rio Olympics after being invited by Internatio­nal Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach along with other eminent global personalit­ies. Tendulkar, who is an Indian Olympic Associatio­n goodwill ambassador, will leave for the Brazilian city on August 2 and also meet the Indian contingent during his trip.

Karnataka body postpones AGM after SC view

BENGALURU: The Karnataka State Cricket Associatio­n (KSCA) postponed its AGM and Managing Committee polls scheduled on August 7 after the Lodha Committee recommende­d a freeze on elections in the Indian Cricket Board.
