Robbers electrocute Amritsar woman; flee with gold, cash
AMRITSAR: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly electrocuted to death by unidentified robbers who barged into the house located at Indira Nagar locality on Majitha road here on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Alka. “I, along with my family, had gone to meet a relative and my daughter was alone at home when the incident took place,” said Sadesh, the decease’s mother. “Around 1pm, I tried contacting her on her phone, but got no response. We thought she might be sleeping. We tried contacting her again at 3pm, but her number went not reachable. Then I called a neighbour and asked him to enquire about Alka,” she said, adding that the neighbour found Alka’s naked body with wires in her mouth lying on the floor.
“When we reached the spot, we saw things scattered and gold and cash stolen,” Sadesh said. Police have sent the body to civil hospital for autopsy. “It seems that Alka was electrocuted to death,” said Lakhbir Singh, ADCP (crime).
