Technical snag shuts Kotla powerhouse

Power generation in the Bhakra Beas Management Board’s (BBMB) Kotla powerhouse was stopped due to some technical fault on Sunday.

The power house has three units with installed capacity of 77.65 MW .One unit had stopped working when its runner got damaged some time back while the second unit was shut for maintenanc­e recently. The third unit stopped generation on Sunday.

BBMB chief engineer (generation) Kirpal Singh said the unit, which stopped working on Sunday, was generating 28.94 MW.

He said that the power unit under maintenanc­e would be started by tomorrow evening and the other unit stopped working on Sunday would be repaired in a couple of days.
