Two held for trying to extort `25 lakh from businessman
NEW DELHI: Two persons allegedly involved in extorting money from a businessman in Vivek Vihar were arrested by the crime branch of Delhi Police on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Sanjeev Duggal and Shamsul Haq, residents of Delhi and UP. Police said on December 2, information was received by the crime branch about a person demanding extortion money of `25 lakh from a businessman in Vivek Vihar. A case was registered. The accused had allegedly threatened to kill the trader’s son. Assistant sub-inspector of police Ramesh Kumar received input that one of the accused will come to receive money near Shivam Enclave traffic signal.
Accordingly, a trap was laid and the duo was apprehended.
