Capt Abhimanyu exhorts depts to go cashless
CHANDIGARH : Haryana finance minister Capt Abhimanyu on Monday exhorted all state departments to make big transactions cashless.
Briefing newspersons after holding a meeting with administrative secretaries of various departments here, Capt Abhimanyu said e-payment facilities were also being promoted for making petty payments in government departments.
On the impact of demonetisation of high denomination notes on the revenue, he said there was no fall in registration of properties in various tehsils in the state. The situation of cash was being eased out, he said, adding that as per the feedback, cash crunch was “not visible” as such. The objective was to promote any mode of financial transaction other than cash, he said.
The finance minister said a committee of administrative secretaries had also been formed that would seek suggestions from all departments and work on executing all modules to build Haryana a cashless state. All receipts and payments in the government will be made totally cashless and this practice should also be promoted in society, he said.
Stating that Haryana would first be developed as a cashless state, he said this would not only eliminate corruption but would also keep a check on terrorism. The minister said also said a request had been sent to the Centre to bring the down the charges of online mode of payments. “However, it was a set principle that quantum of such charges would be reduced according to the rise in cashless transactions,” he said.
Earlier, Capt Abhimanyu asked administrative secretaries, to widely publicise the cashless mode of transactions through advertisements, radio jingles and also on WhatsApp.
