FARIDABAD: Three members of a family, including two kids, were charred to death in suspicious circumstances in their house in Deeg village in Ballabgarh subdivision of Faridabad district on Saturday night.

Though the incident occurred at around 8.30pm on Saturday, police came to know about it around 1am on Sunday when some villager made a call to police control room, informing about the incident.

Police teams from Sadar Ballabgarh police station, including SHO and ACP Tigaon, rushed to Deeg village. The police said the charred bodies of the deceased, identified as Dhan Singh (35), Savita (4) and Benami alias Kari (2), were first rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared them dead and subsequently the bodies were sent to BK Hospital for postmortem.

Where as Lalita, the wife of Dhan Singh, who too has suffered multiple burns, was referred to Sabderjung Hospital in Delhi where she is under-going treatment.

Dhan Singh, hailing from Milkipur village in Dausa district of Rajasthan, got married to Lalita eleven years ago and the family was living in Faridabad district for the last five years. Both worked in a brink kiln in Faridabad. The police informed that Lalita, in her statement, said her husband was drunk and tried to set the family on fire.

The small house where the family was living is located in an open agricultural field in the village owned by some villager. It is said Lalita cried loudly when her husband allegedly set the family on fire and rushed out and knocked the door of another villager who made a call to the police control room. “We along with forensic experts visited the house but we could not find traces of diesel, petrol etc, but we immediately rushed all the four members of the family to hospital,” police officials said. “We have registered a case under Sections 436 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code and efforts are being made to get postmortem of the deceased done by Sunday evening,” Sadar Ballabgarh SHO Satya Dev said.
