JAMMU : In a move, which could strain relations between the coalition partners BJP and PDP, the former has laid a resolution opposing granting any amnesty to stone pelters, during its state working committee on Sunday .

Sources present in the working committee in Samba, on conditions of anonymity, said, "Minister of state (MoS) Jitendra Singh has laid a resolution that the party will oppose any kind of amnesty to stone pelters who had inflicted grievous injuries to security forces, damaged public property, attacked camps of police and security forces and torched the schools."

"The resolution which was moved by Singh was seconded by industries and commerce minister Chander Parkash Ganga. The resolution reads, BJP has always stood by nationalist forces and will never accept or be part of any decision which emboldens terrorism,” he said.

On January 9, replying on an adjournment motion moved in the Assembly on the prevailing situation in the Valley, chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had announced an ex gratia relief of ₹5 lakh in favour of the next of kin of those killed during the unrest.

She also said possibilities of providing jobs will also be explored in cases of extreme compassion.

Jitendra Singh laid the resolution before the working committee and said it enumerates various decisions taken by the central government during the last three months.

He said demonetisation and the crusade launched to make India a cashless economy is a move to “leap-frog the country” into the 21st century in the “real sense”.

He said, “Congress’ opposition to the demonetisation move and its efforts to incite the public against by alleging it to be an anti-poor move, has failed. This demonstrates that the Indian public is with PM Modi.”

Singh came down heavily on Congress and other parties for ‘trying to find fault’ with the rehabilitation package for the refugees from West Pakistan and PoJK.

He demanded that these parties must inform the public how much relief had been provided by them when they were in power.

The resolution was endorsed by the working committee after it was seconded by Chander Parkash Ganga.
