BJP holds state executive meeting in Panipat
PANIPAT: A two-day state executive meeting of the Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) began here on Sunday, with chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar stressing on the need to provide government jobs to eligible candidates.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister asked party leaders to work hard to fulfil the expectations of the people but made it clear that party leaders should also ensure that only eligible people be appointed for the government jobs.
Khattar said people of the state had faced discrimination and nepotism in government appointments in the past governments but the youth had faith in the present government that they will get jobs without any discrimination.
He also hailed the working of the present government, adding that the International Gita Jayanti Utsav in Kurukshetra and induction of teachings of Bhagwad Gita in syllabus will help in social development.
Mediapersons, however, were not allowed inside the meeting. Sources said that office bearers, who presented a district-wise report of party’s working in the state, raised the issue of poor control of the party on the bureaucracy. Office bearers alleged that officers did not listen to people and the party had to face criticism of people for the wrongdoings of officers. BJP leaders also discussed the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. It was also decided how party workers and leaders from Haryana will campaign in the neighbouring states.
KHATTAR DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM VIJ’S STATEMENT
Khattar, who stopped at Karnal before reaching Panipat, distanced himself from the controversial statement of health minister Anil Vij that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a “bigger brand” than Mahatma Gandhi. The Haryana CM said that the views expressed by the minister were personal.
