Power, if not appreciated, can become a curse

If we have talents, we should regard it as a gift from god, entrusted to us with a purpose. So, we should use it as an instrument to achieve something positive, something that will help us become better human beings and improve the world around us. It’s a good feeling when we use our ability and power to help the cause of others.

A humane approach should always be there in our mind. If, by being flexible, we can help someone come out of the misery they are going through, then we should not hesitate.

It is a well-known fact that use and abuse of anything — good or bad — depends upon our approach and intention. We should always be careful that no harm is done to a person or party concerned — and for that it is important that we keep aside all prejudices.

There are many people who have power and many of them, in no time, become dictatorial. They forget that probably this power they are using— or even abusing—might be short lived. They forget that what they have got is a chance to serve and not boss around.

Power without a humane touch is very often dominated by ego, which is one of the worst enemies anyone can have. In such cases, power becomes a toxic cocktail that blurs the vision.

This is why we need to be careful while exercising power. There is always a need to realise that power is a way to help others. Those having power are lucky that they can help people. Power, in that sense, is a blessing that if not appreciated can become a curse.
