It will be an extremely busy first day in the White House for Donald Trump if he lives up to his campaign pledges. Some can be done with the stroke of a pen, but not all Here are some highlights of his stated opening day plans
IMMIGRATION
"Day one, my first hour in office, those people Are gone," Trump said of more than two million convicted criminals living in the US illegally
He has vowed to introduce legislation that would fund construction of the "Great Wall" along the Mexico Border
He could immediately suspend the Syrian refugee programme, and had pledged a suspension of immigration "from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur"
He is for scrapping deferred action for childhood arrivals scheme to let more than 750,000 undocumented immigrants to live and work in the US
ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY
Trump intends to end the Environmental Protection Agency's intrusion into American industry, such as clean power plan that compels power plants to slash carbon emissions
Trump will "end the war on coal on day one," said vice president elect Mike Pence
He pledged to scrap coal leasing moratoriums and open federal lands for drilling and mining in order to access oil, natural gas, coal and uranium
He has also expressed intent on day one to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project linking Canada
TRADE
Trump said the US will back out of or renegotiate two sweeping trade pacts: the Trans-pacific partnership, A 12-nation agreement and the longstanding North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico
HEALTH CARE
Trump has pledged to introduce legislation to "repeal and replace" Obamacare
His team stresses he will immediately sign executive orders related to dismantling the law
