Leopard spotted along Faridabad road: Villagers

-

GURGAON: The wildlife department received complaints from villagers of Bandhwari along the Gurgaon-Faridabad road that a leopard was spotted there on Sunday night. Wildlife officials said they patrolled the area after receiving complaints, but failed to find pugmarks or pictures of the animal in camera traps. However, the search for the big cat is on and they are taking measures to avoid any untoward incident, an official said.

“We have camera traps in the areas to track wildlife movement. We are checking to find whether there are any pictures of a leopard. We have spotted leopards on this stretch earlier, but there is no evidence related to the complaint. We are investigating the matter and it could just be a jungle cat that people at times confuse with a leopard,” Shyam Kaushik, wildlife officer, said.
