Videos glorifying Jats and the love for guns are not new in Punjab. But do such videos picture the truth, or are mere fiction? Decide for yourself.

In a shocking incident on Thursday, a gangster Dalvinder Singh alias Babli Randhawa took to Facebook after killing his ‘rival’, a 25-year-old financier Hardev Singh. He later posted four FB Live videos while driving a car, in which he sang songs of his ‘valour’ and went on to justify his act, gaining many likes from his friends (2,102) and followers.

In the first video, he is seen joining chorus of a song “Poore hosh vich maare fire Jat ne (Jat fired at his rival in his senses)”. Written by Sulakhan Cheema and sung by Kamal Grewal, the song further goes “Main ni kenda mere kolon bhul hoi aa, ho layi e ladai appan mull hoi aa (I don’t call my act a mistake. I have earned this rivalry)”. Randhawa went on to sing the complete song. The Live video had got 3,100 views, 213 likes, one share and forty-one comments by 11.30pm. Vicky Khan from Sangrur commented “Attt (bravo)” on his post.

In the second video, he goes on to explain why he killed Hardev. Randhawa says he could not tolerate betrayal in friendship. He says Hardev had called him and insulted him and his friends. He says Hardev had also tried to harm them with sticks and swords.

He further says, “Film da trailer start kita e viraan ne merean ne... film da ‘the end’ aje bahut agge haiga. (This is just a trailer by my brothers. ‘The End’ of this movie is too far)” He says it is to be seen now whether God helps him or not. Otherwise, he says fearlessly, you people will come to my funeral. He calls Hardev his “pyara veer” who betrayed him and did not let him marry his girlfriend.

In the video, he even abuses and then apologises for it, and ends the video calling the incident a regular affair. This video got 3,000 views, 157 likes by 11.30pm, and a share by a user named Bittu Dhillon. His FB friend Jaskaran Gill called both the videos brilliant, while many others also commented in his favour.

A third video with similar content had got 130 likes and 3,000 views by 11.30pm.

He begins the fourth video singing in chorus to a song sung by Geeta Zaildar, “Sunde jehre fire goriye, mitran ne maare ne... (The noises that you heard, o beautiful, were of the bullets that we fired).” He then signs off, saying no matter whether he stays alive or dies tomorrow, no one should shed a tear and that he loves everyone.

He even says that he is leaving but will be back when someone calls him again. This video had 227 likes, 4,200 views and 21 shares by 11.30pm.
