SANGRUR : Even as more than 36 hours have elapsed since the murder of financier Hardev Singh Happy, 25, in Longowal town, the police have failed to nab the main accused, Davinder Singh alias Babli Randhawa, or any of his accomplices. The only breakthrough the police could make was that the Facebook videos posted by Randhawa were uploaded from Bhawanigarh near Patiala.

After a verbal duel with accused Randhawa on January 31, Happy was staying in Chandigarh and was killed within hours he entered his hometown on Thursday. After committing the crime, Randhawa posted four videos on his Facebook page, taking responsibility for the crime and celebrating the murder by joining chorus of a song, “Maare hik vich fIre Jat ne (The Jat has fired in the chest)”. He is also seen flashing a gun in the video.

“Six police teams have been dispatched to nab the main accused and his accomplishes,” said Sewa Singh, superintendent of police (detective). “The mobile phone of the Randhawa is not active since he uploaded the videos on the Facebook at Bhawanigarh. We are conducting raids at all his possible hideouts,” he said.

He said the accused has five FIRs pending against him in Sangrur and most of them are related to clashes. “He is a small-time goon, not a gangster, as he is posing himself. He must have killed Happy in a fit of rage. There was a monetary dispute between the two. The exact reason, however, will be clear once the accused is arrested,” he said.

After pursuance of the police, the family of the deceased cremated the body on Friday. Police assured the family early arrest and make a watertight case.
