Police remand of gangster Sekhon, aides extended

-

NABHA:Main accused in the Nabha jailbreak, gangster Gurpreet Singh Sekhon and his aides were remanded in police custody for five more days (till February 23) on Saturday.

The police appealed for a seven-day remand and submitted that during investigation, they have discovered that Sekhon has kept arms and ammunition at a room in Indore (Madhya Pradesh). Also, the police have learnt that his cousin Manvir Singh Sekhon’s fake identity cards were at some place in Rajasthan and they need to interrogate the accused. Another escapee, gangster Kulpreet Singh, alias Neeta Deol, was also arrested from Indore.

The defence counsel objected to the remand, especially of Manvir, by presenting a January 19 HC order that mandated the police to serve a notice one week before arresting him. The court summoned Nabha DSP Jaskeerat Singh, who submitted that Manvir was arrested with arms from Dhudike (Moga) during an operation and was accompanying Gurpreet.

The man who was arrested from Moga on Tuesday for allegedly selling a gun to Sekhon without following procedures was also presented. He was remanded in five-day police custody. HTC
