Double-murder convict arrested six months after jumping parole

LUDHIANA:Convicted in a doublemurd­er case of a jeweller and his wife, Sunny Kumar of Raju Colony on Tibba Road in Ludhiana, has again landed in the police net.

Member of the Rajiv Raja gang, Sunny jumped parole in August last year. A case under the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) 8 (2) 9 Punjab Act and Section 174-A of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against him.

Inspector Harpal Singh, in-charge of the CIA staff-1, said the accused was serving life term at the Nabha jail in the double-murder case.

He availed parole of four weeks on August 4, 2016 and was supposed to report in the jail on September 2, 2016. The police arrested Sunny from the Jalandhar bypass area.

Rajiv Raja, kingpin of the gang, is also serving life imprisonme­nt and is lodged in the Nabha jail.

The gangsters on July 4, 2006, brutally killed jeweller Darshan Singh and his wife Paramjit Kaur.

Sunny, Rajiv Raja and other members of the gang were convicted in the case.
