‘Innocent’ persons injured in 2016 stir to get relief up to ₹1 lakh
The Haryana government on Saturday announced compensation for “innocent persons” injured during the Jat reservation stir in 2016.
The announcement comes ahead of the proposed Balidan Divas to be observed in the state on Sunday in memory of those who lost their lives during the last year’s violent agitation.
“While any person who had sustained a bullet injury will be paid ₹1 lakh, those who suffered a fracture not due to any bullet injury will be paid ₹50,000,” said Amit Arya, media adviser to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
An amount of ₹25,000 will be given to those who sustained other minor injuries, he said.
The compensation amount will be paid out of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and the amount has been released to the deputy commissioners, said Arya on Saturday.
