SIT to probe US national’s Vrindavan links

A Kullu court has remanded US national Bishambar Isiah in four-day police custody for possessing a huge drug consignmen­t and the special investigat­ion team (SIT) will now probe the accused’s Vrindavan links.

The accused has claimed that he was doing ‘social service’ and collecting ganja and hashish oil for curing cancer. The police said he has failed to produce any document or permission regarding his work.

“The accused has been claiming that he was supplying all these products to Vrindavan. He did not divulge any informatio­n, nor he had any authorisat­ion in this regard,” a senior police officials said adding that the accused indulged in illegal trade.

DSP Puneet Raghu, who is head of the SIT, said the interrogat­ion of the accused was on. “He has repeating the same thing . The investigat­ion is on,” he said.

During a raid conducted on Friday, 10 bags containing 126 kg ganja (cannabis leaves), 9 litre hashish oil and 1.296 kg hashish were seized. Isiah has set up a small factory to extract oil from hashish. Police have registered a case under the NDPS Act. HTC
