Assam BJP MLA in sex video scandal, leader seeks forensic test

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam has been left red-faced after a video purportedly showing one of its legislators in a sexual act went viral on social media on Saturday.

While the party chose not to react, the Member of Legislative Assembly – Ramakanta Deuri representing the Morigaon assembly seat – said he was not the man the video showed caught in a compromising position with a woman in a hotel.

The video has gone viral in the constituency, about 80km east of Guwahati.

“This is a conspiracy hatched by my adversaries since my name was doing the rounds for a berth in the ministry scheduled to be expanded soon,” Deuri told local TV channels.

He said he would quit as an MLA and leave politics if forensic test establishes that its him featuring in the video.
