Aadhaar, 11 other bills passed
CHANDIGARH : The Haryana assembly on Friday passed 12 bills, including the Haryana Aadhaar (targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services) bill 2017 to correctly identify the targeted beneficiaries to provide various subsidies, services, grants, wages and other benefits.
It was felt necessary that the process of authentication, security, confidentiality and use of Aadhaar related information should be made statutory to avail subsidies and services, the expenditure of which was incurred from the consolidated fund of the state.
The right to fair compensation and transparency in land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement (Haryana amendment) bill 2017 was passed to amend certain other provisions of the Act of 2013 so as to protect the overall public interest to serve the deprived sections and to avoid lapsing of acquisition in essential cases.
The Haryana development and regulation of urban areas (amendment) bill 2017 was passed to ease out the procedure for registration of land within urban areas by substituting Section 7A of the Act.
The Haryana municipal corporation (amendment) bill, 2017 was passed to make provisions of giving proper opportunity of personal hearing to all the candidates before deciding the case of disqualification.
The Haryana road infrastructure protection bill 2017 was passed to develop and implement a systematic approach towards better utilisation and management of road infrastructure and enhancement of security.
The Act would also check fraudulent activity and unauthorised access to the roads and provided safeguards to its infrastructure.
It also aims to provide for the legal framework so that legal sanctity was accorded for checking all types of intrusions and unauthorised access to roads.
The Haryana private universities (amendment) bill 2017 was passed to amend the Haryana Private Universities Act, 2006.
The Act will encourage the sponsoring bodies with experience of running educational institutions to come forward for setting up of private universities in Haryana.
The Haryana nurses and nurse-midwives bill 2017 was passed to provide for the constitution of the Haryana nurses and nurse-midwives council for the registration of nurses, nurse-midwives and for the registration of institutions imparting training and prescribing qualifications to such institutions in the state.
