Of 63 officers with doubtful integrity, 27 on sensitive posts, says Virbhadra
: Himachal has 63 officers of doubtful integrity, of which 27 are posted on sensitive posts, said chief minister Virbhadra Singh while replying to the question posed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sujanpur legislator Narinder Thakur during the question hour on Tuesday.
“No such survey has been made by the government to assess the number of officers with doubtful integrity. However, as per scheme circulated by the state government to all the departments, lists of officers having doubtful integrity are being prepared by the departments,” the written reply reads.
He added that there were 63 officers of different departments having doubtful integrity. Of these, 27 officers are posted on sensitive posts. Posing a supplementary, Thakur said that such officers should not be allowed to sit on sensitive posts, to which chief minister Virbhadra Singh said that the government would consider removing them from such posts.
There are 11 people of doubtful integrity in irrigation and public health department, four in police, 14 in power, one in personnel, 12 in public works department, five in rural development, one each in revenue, social justice, transport, technical education, education, industry, excise and taxation and agriculture.
Three officers of doubtful integrity are posted in forest, four in health safety. Of these, four in PWD, five in rural development, one each in revenue and education, two in health safety, 14 in power department are on sensitive posts.

Chief minister Virbhadra Singh while replying to a question posed by BJP legislators Gulab Singh Thakur, Randhir Sharma, Suresh Kumar and Virender Kanwar, said the Centre has accorded approval in principle for 645 national highways but so far no notification has been issued.
He added that the state has initiated the process to appoint a consultant. The 42 tenders have been invited thrice, 12 have been opened and evaluation process has been completed. Financial evaluation of five tenders has been completed.
He also informed the House that the government did not invite tenders for two roads because it would be covered under the World Bank funded state road projects and Centre has been asked to notify these roads.
