- Arjun Sharma letterschd@hindustantimes.com

LUDHIANA: He is being hailed as the man who not only won Punjab but also has given the Congress a face-saver at the national level. And he will become the chief minister again Thursday. But Capt Amarinder Singh is not the boss. At least, that’s what Asha Kumari believes.

Kumari posted in a reply to some comments on a Facebook page: “Capt Amarinder Singh is President of Punjab PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) but I am the General Secretary in charge for Punjab that is his boss! Thank you for your good wishes. I am overwhelmed.”

The conversation was about congratulatory messages to Kumari on the Facebook page of ACES (Association of St Joseph’s Convent Ex-Students), Idgah Hills, Bhopal. Among the replies she got to her comment was one by Rama Dey-Rao: “Luve yu being da boss lady. YU go girl. (sic)”

The page has several clippings and photos of Kumari while campaigning in Punjab for the party.

The post on which she commented read: “Taking the greatest pride in classmate Asha Singh-Deo (Kumari) (1973) at the helm of a political win in Punjab. She is certainly from Bhopal and FROM OUR BELOVED SCHOOL. Splashed all over local and national papers Asha takes the scene by storm. We wish her all the best in the future...”

Married into the erstwhile royal family of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh, she has a princely-state connection as Amarinder does. A former minister, she is now a member of the Himachal assembly from Dalhousie and in her fifth term as MLA.
