Frame laws to build Ram temple, control population, says Pravin Togadia
the platform of the Virat Hindu Sammelan in Ahmedabad, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday asked the Centre to frame two laws — one for building the Ram temple at Ayodhya and another for population control applicable to all religions.
Addressing around 20,000 people at the GMDC ground here, VHP international working president Pravin Togadia said, “The government should pass two laws in Parliament. One for the construction of Ram temple and another for population control.
He added, “Just like Hindus, who now opt only for two children, Muslims should also be allowed to have only two. If they have more, they should denied welfare schemes.”
Touching upon the issue of Patidar agitation for quota in college and jobs, he demanded a sponsorship of school fee for 10 crore Hindu students. “This should be done on the lines of similar benefits being given to 95 lakh Muslim students,” he said.
This convention by the VHP — which had fallen silent after the 2002 communal riots — has come amid speculations of early assembly elections in Gujarat. The state is scheduled to go to polls by the year-end. Polls will be held in the backdrop of agitations by Patidars, a crucial vote bank for BJP.
Togadia said if the government failed to bring a law for the temple’s construction, the VHP will offer volunteership to build it.
“Don’t just talk like Sardar (Vallabh Patel), but also act like him,” he told the Modi-led government while referring to the role played by Sardar in the reconstruction of Somnath temple. He also announced an array of welfare schemes for Hindus, including healthcare and security. It also promised 50,000 jobs in Ahmedabad to unemployed Hindus by next month.
