COA CALLS FOR MEETING WITH TOP OFFICIALS
The Indian cricket Board’s Committee of Administrators has called for a meeting with three senior most cricket officials at its Mumbai headquarters on Monday, according to acting president, CK Khanna.
Acting secretary, Amitabh Choudhary, and acting treasurer, Anirudh Chaudhary will also meet the CoA, headed by former CAG, Vinod Rai, Khanna said on Sunday. After the Supreme Court’s clarification on the nine-year tenure in its last hearing on Thursday, Khanna wrote to Amitabh Choudhary on Sunday, asking him to convene a Special General Meeting in New Delhi on April 9.
BCCI officials have been boosted by the apex court’s clarification that officials who have served nine years in state units can still enjoy a nine-year term in the BCCI. The CoA’s invite is said to have come after the move to hold the SGM.
However, the CoA, in a communication posted in the BCCI website, cited apex court rulings to point out that the four-member panel will be the final authority.
The Board members, in their April 9 meeting, are expected to decide their representative for the ICC Board meetings to be held next month and for other meetings, a move that suggests a new tussle with the CoA.
The SC-appointed CoA has already conveyed to the apex court that its member, Vikram Limaye, will represent BCCI in the world body’s meetings. Limaye was inducted as an ICC Director after attending the February meeting of world cricket’s governing body.
