Responding to the demand of opposition parties and peasant leaders in Haryana to waive farm loans on the pattern of Uttar Pradesh (UP), chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said the matter was under his government’s consideration.

He gave the statement at Sunariya in the district where he had come to preside over the passing out parade of police recruits at the Police Training Centre.

The CM said the government would expedite recruitment of 14,000 vacant posts in the state police force even as the recruitment of 5,000 police personnel was currently going on. He said in order to improve law and order, the first cyber crime cell would be opened in Gurgaon.

“CCTV cameras will be installed on the Delhi-Ambala highway to ensure the maintenance of law and order. At least, 250 cameras have already been installed and soon the entire stretch will be covered. Police posts will be established at every 10 km on the Kundli-ManesarPalwal (KMP) highway,” he said.

‘NO VENDETTA IN FIR AGAINST HOODA’

To a question on the CBI case against former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda in AJL plot case, Khattar said there was no vendetta politics being played against Hooda. “The CBI has registered a case, not the state police. If we had any such intentions in mind, we would not have delayed so long,” he said.

Earlier, Haryana director general police (DGP) KP Singh said the police focus in Haryana would be to target proclaimed gangsters, illegal mining and to prevent crime against women.

The DGP said the UP model of anti-Romeo squads was inspired from Haryana, where special teams are formed to keep a check on crime against women.

He said the state had constituted a police task force to take action against cow slaughtering and smuggling.
