BJP workers asked to reach out to triple talaq victims in Haryana

KARNAL: The BJP leadership in Haryana has asked party workers to reach out to Muslim women in the state who are victims of triple talaq to know their views.

“Woman workers of the BJP will call upon victims of the triple talaq in the Muslim-dominated areas of the state to know what they think about this problem,” Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala said on the concluding day of the two-day state level executive meeting of the party.

Though Barala did not disclose the reasons behind the motive, he said the step is being taken to get the reaction of Muslim women on triple talaq. Briefing the media , he said around 5,000 workers of the party will visit across the state and spend 15 days at every booth to reach out to every family from May 26 to June 10.

TAKE GOVT SCHEMES TO PEOPLE: KHATTAR

Earlier addressing the party workers, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said party workers should have knowledge of all the welfare schemes launched by the Centre and the state government and they should make people aware of these schemes.

He said the state government had done a lot in the past two and a half years in Haryana, however the party had failed to make the people aware of the schemes it had launched.

BIRENDER FOR MORE POWERS TO MINISTERS

Talking to media persons, Union minister Birender Singh has demanded that the government should give more powers to ministers and MLAs and the said ministers should have powers to order transfers within their respective department throughout the year.

Reacting to the demand for liquor ban in the state, Haryana finance minister did not give a clear answer, but said that the government was bannig liquor shops in the villages where the panchayats had raised the objections. He, however, skipped the question whether the state can afford a complete ban on liquor.

Haryana health minister Anil Vij said the state government was working hard for inclusive developmen­t of the state.
